I wasn’t the only one fascinated with the process of rebuilding the tram tracks on Westbahnstrasse. A neighbour snapped a shot of me taking photos (above) and told me she had a lot of photos too. Really cool is that she had access to a roof on Westbahnstrasse and had photos from above. She sent me her photos and here are a few.
All the photos she sent me are available on my flickr set Westbahnstr Tram Track Renewal (there is a small “r” in the title of the ones she took and a credit in the description).
Concrete Striping Machine
I can still hear and smell this huge machine. They did this work on a very hot Saturday afternoon.
Westbahnstrasse – Looking West
The old street and tracks have been removed and they are getting ready to start placing the rail and rebuilding the street.
Here they are welding the track together. More welding at Westbahnstrasse Track Welding Photos
One set of rails has been put in place. Now the carpenters are building forms underneath the tracks. Concrete will be poured into the forms later in the process. More photos of track work on Westbahnstrasse.
The concrete is pumped through the hose to where it’s needed. My YouTube video of the concrete pumping process.
Track Support Forms
They will pour concrete around the forms later to fill the entire street.
There’s a lot going on in a very small area.
