Swiss International Airlines held a contest to publicise their new route from Zurich to San Francisco in 2010. Contestants had to sing “If you’re going to San Francisco” … be sure to wear flowers in your hair …

I rewrote the song to make it about putting flowers around the horns of cows, a traditional event when the cows come down from the Alps to their winter quarters in the valley farms. I thought it was pretty clever, especially the line about cows finding … “some groovy grasses there” …

I received a runner up prize of two tickets anywhere Swiss flies in Europe. I told the boarding agent how we won the tickets and he said, “What, and they did not give you business class?” But I can’t complain too much. I’ve been upgraded a couple times on Swiss and I truly enjoy flying on their airline (they even serve ice cream in summer!).
